Building a Private User Area with WordPress

I had the great pleasure of presenting a talk at the Vancouver WordPress Meetup group on Thursday about building a private user area with WordPress. I used a recent client site as an case study to explore WordPress’ Roles and Capabilities, and introduced several plugins (User Access Manager and Capabilities Manager) to create user groups, roles, and assign capabilities. The following are the slides presented that evening.

Really good guide, I have been toying with this for a while. I want an area where clients can upload files and send messages.
